High School Internship

Year-Long Internship for High School Students Across North America

When Jewish students arrive on university campuses, they are often bombarded with anti-Israel propaganda and programming coming at them from all sides, especially on social media. This can be overwhelming for new students who usually do not have the knowledge or resources necessary to counter this slew of misinformation.

That’s why Hasbara Fellowships offers a school-year-long high school internship program for students from across North America. The Internship includes sessions on Jewish indigeneity, anti-Israel bias in the media, utilizing social media as a tool for advocacy, how to communicate for Israel, and more. Students get access to books, resources, and informational toolkits on how to serve as proud and effective ambassadors for the Jewish People. The internship itself is flexible and self-directed, allowing students to complete their requirements in accordance with their personal schedules and with the support of our staff.

High School Internship FAQ

The high school internship program runs every school year, beginning in October and ending in May.

Interns learn about a wide variety of topics related to Israel and antisemitism, including:

  • Communicating for Israel
  • Antisemitism & the BDS movement
  • The Disputed Territories
  • Israeli history
  • Social media as a tool for advocacy
  • Israeli politics
  • The IDF
  • Palestinian Issues
  • Israel at the United Nations
  • Anti-Israel bias in the media
  • And more!

Students are required to participate in monthly hour-long webinars. There are also five activities that students complete over the course of the program, which can be done at any point during the program. These tasks are highly flexible so that students can choose to complete them at their own convenience.

Applications are open from May through September. To apply or learn more about the program, contact High School Advisor Pearl Gasner.

The program is highly flexible and individualized, and is designed to work with each student’s unique schedule. Aside from the monthly webinar schedule, which is shared with students months in advance, all other aspects of the program can be scheduled around students’ busier and less busy months so that it does not become overwhelming or stressful.

While all of the core components of the program are virtual, there are opportunities during some of the webinars to interact with other Interns. Additionally, when there are several Interns in the same school and/or city, Hasbara Fellowships typically provides opportunities for students to meet each other in person through collaborating on their tasks, event invitations, and other similar opportunities.

Participation in the High School Internship costs $200. Needs-based scholarships are available so that cost should never be a reason that a student cannot participate in this program.
